SONG: relaxed in Chinese

Let us gain more wisdom from our trees and explore how we can deepen our understanding of relaxing.  What do you feel when you go to relax? How does the body and mind react or respond to this suggestion? What forms of relaxation do you do?

Let us look at it from another perspective as we learn to apply it into our tai chi.  How about we embrace the power of visualisation to embody the timeless wisdom of a pine tree into parts of our practice?

What do you see when you see a pine tree?

-Rooted

-Upright

-Ascended

-Spacious

Begin to  relax as you embody the essence of the pine tree. Connect with the space as you are rooted and grounded like the pine tree and embody it's essence.

Notice if there is any difference in the way you sit or stand.

Embracing some form of visualisation or technique can enhance flow of breath, circulation and nervous system as our body becomes better aligned and supported rather than softly collapsed.

Observation is key

Practicing this technique has heightened my ability to sense tension within my body. Through tai chi, I’ve developed an awareness of when my arms are raised too high, leading to discomfort in my shoulders.

It also allows me to notice areas where my body feels overly collapsed, helping me focus on achieving better alignment and a sense of softness.

By focusing on my breath, I can tune into the tension it holds. With mindful attention, I gently encourage it to soften and expand, fostering a sense of ease and release.
